Brutal accident in front of Long Beach City College earlier. A Hispanic man in the Lexus was speeding and slammed into what used to be a Celica Supra. The Supra was crushed between the Lexus and a Scion TC, and the TC pushed into a Mustang.
Onlookers pulled the driver from the burning Lexus and attempted to sit him down on the sidewalk. One of the people who assisted him out of the car claims that he said “I have to leave, man. They’re gonna come get me.” Shortly afterwards, the man fled on foot. The same witness claims that the man appeared to be intoxicated and that there was a bottle inside the car.
The man was apprehended by Long Beach City Police not too far from the campus.
With the passenger of the Celica Supra confirmed dead, this man will mostly face charges for reckless driving, vehicular manslaughter, fleeing the scene of a crime/accident, and possibly driving under the influence.
Condolences to the family of the deceased.
And hopefully, this man won’t taste freedom any time soon.
